LONG BEACH 38, VANCLEAVE 35
VANCLEAVE, Mississippi -- Long Beach quarterback Cade Crosby threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a 38-35 win over homestanding Vancleave Friday night.
The Bulldogs had a chance to win the game with less than a minute to go, but running back C.J. Johnson had the ball stripped by the Bearcats D'lijah Robinson just short of the Bearcat goal line.
The shocking ending spoiled an otherwise outstanding night for Johnson, who carried the ball 29 times for 203 yards, touchdowns of 1, 28 and 48 yards, and a two-point conversion to keep Vancleave in the game despite Crosby's aerial assault.
Drake Posey and Jimmy Bates also had touchdowns of 15 and 30 yards, respectively, for Vancleave.
The Bulldogs, now 2-2, will travel to face Perry Central next Friday. Long Beach (2-1) will go on the road to face Greene County.
