LONG BEACH (1-1) AT VANCLEAVE (2-1)

After starting the season 2-0, the Bulldogs are coming off a loss to Greene County. In that loss, Vancleave allowed Wildcat quarterback Jacob Mitchell to complete 60.9 percent of his passes, although most were of the short variety, as he only totaled 121 yards passing. The 'Dogs also gave up 103 yards to Greene Co. running back Shantez Campbell. The Vancleave defense will have do better against a Long Beach team led by quarterback Cade Crosby, who has completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 537 yards, seven touchdowns, only one interception and a QB rating of 139.9. He's also averaging 17.9 yards per completion, indicating the Bearcats aren't afraid to throw the ball downfield. However, Long Beach also gave up 321 rushing yards to Bay High last week, which plays right into the strength of the Vancleave offense -- it's running attack. The Bulldogs are powered by a trio of running back who have led the 'Dogs to a team average of 6.3 yards per carry and scored all 10 of the team's touchdowns. If the Bulldogs can rely on their running game, control the clock and keep the Long Beach passing attack off the field, they stand a good chance to win this home game. But my guess is they won't be able to generate enough points to stay with a Bearcat offense averaging 42 points over their first two games. The picks: Kulo: Long Beach 26, Vancleave 20 Dobson: Long Beach 45, Vancleave 21 This week's college picks:
